Recommended Toys for a 2 Year Old

piggybankFisher-Price Laugh and Learn Learning Piggy Bank: At first my daughter got frustrated with this toy because it was difficult for her to put the coins in the top slot of the bank.  For about a month she had to use 2 hands and go very slowly to get one into the bank.  The next month she was using one hand on the coin, but still going slowly.  The following month she was throwing them into the bank like it was no problem.  A real fun toy to watch your toddler develop problem solving and fine motor skills.

tugboatTubtime Tugboat: This is a great toy for bath time because it provides entertainment for your toddler but also can act as a storage device after you are done.  There is a retractable handle that can usually hang on the bath spout – you can hang it there with other toys inside the boat and the water all drains out the bottom holes of the boat.  Fun for our daughter but also functional for us parents.

activitytableFisher Price – Laugh & Learn Learning Table: We started on this toy without the legs (they are detachable) and my daughter started playing with it at a young age.  There are other versions of this toy now, but I still love all of the various pieces to the top of the table.  There’s a steering wheel in the middle, doors that open and close, buttons with lights and sounds.  Great all-around toy that will grow with the child.  Like I said, we first stared without the legs on it when my daughter was about 9 months old and she still plays with it at 22 months.
