Even if you’re not the biggest hockey fan in the world, the gold medal game in the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics was a big deal – USA vs. Canada. So much of Canada’s identity and pride is based on hockey, and the USA team already upset Canada once in the Olympic tournament. The stars aligned for them to rematch in the final game to decide who takes home the gold. This turned out to be one of the most anticipated sporting events of the year.
And I was watching Yo Gabba Gabba.
Well, actually, thanks to the “Picture-in-Picture” feature on my cable box, I was watching Yo Gabba Gabba on the main screen and the gold medal hockey game in the lower-right corner.
As I sat squinting at the small box showing unrecognizable figures moving back and forth on the miniature ice (with no sound, mind you), I chuckled to myself and said, “Now this is what fatherhood is all about.”
Unfortunately, those hosers got the best of us with an overtime goal, so I turned back to DJ Lance and the numerous lessons of Yo Gabba Gabba to comfort me through the loss.
